Moving into a new house is quite stressful if all that greets you is a dirty home.
All you want to do when you take that first step inside is to relax with your family.
Moving Out
When you move, it is always best to leave your current house clean. You have tons of memories in your home.
Making sure that it is spotless is the best way of saying “Thank You” to your house.
Kitchen Checklist
o Long dust all high areas (check behind doors)
o Hand wipe fan blades and light fixtures
o Clean counters
o Wash cabinets, inside and out, and cabinet doors
o Wipe dust from tops of cabinet door hinges
o Wipe out drawers
o Clean microwave, inside and out
o Clean stove-top, burner grates, and knobs
o Clean and polish oven hood; clean top, under, and soak grease traps
o Clean oven, inside and out, including interior door glass; hand wipe floor under oven
o Fridge: wipe down tops, sides, handles, behind handles, and water catcher on refrigerator door
o Dishwasher: wipe down exterior; open and wipe down the top of the door
o Scrub and disinfect sink(s)
o Backsplash: wipe down; pay extra attention to the backsplash behind the stovetop
o Dust and wipe down between appliances and walls
o Check that stainless steel is oiled, dry and streak free
o Wash doors and door casings
o Spot clean walls, especially near trash can
o Clean switch plates and outlet covers
o Clean windowsills, window tracks
o Wash baseboards
o Wipe down both sides and underneath blinds and shutters with damp cloth
o Long dust for cobwebs and get under cabinets
o Vacuum and mop floors; check for debris and cobwebs under cabinets; check corners of floors
Dry Rooms (Bedrooms, Offices, Living, Dining Etc.)
o Long dust all high areas (check behind doors)
o Hand wipe fan blades, chandeliers, and light fixtures
o Dust top to bottom
o Wash doors and door casings
o Cobweb behind each door; check corners of each room for cobwebs and remove
o Clean glass on slider doors, inside and out
o Spot clean walls
o Clean switch plates and outlet covers
o Clean windowsills, window tracks
o Wash baseboards
o Wipe down both sides and underneath blinds and shutters with damp cloth
o Vacuum vent covers (check ceiling)
o Clean mirrors
o Vacuum along baseboards with edging attachment
o Long dust for cobwebs
o Mop hard floors; check corners for debris and buildup
Bathroom Checklist
o Vacuum and clean ceiling fan vent cover
o Clean light fixtures
o Cobweb behind doors and check corners
o Wipe down counters
o Wash cabinets, inside and out, and cabinet doors
o Wipe dust from tops of cabinet door hinges
o Wipe out drawers
o Clean and disinfect sink, wipe dry
o Polish faucet
o Clean mirrors, checking for streaks
o Dust shelves
o Scrub tub/shower (grout, walls, floor, shelves, door); wipe dry
o Polish faucet and fixtures in tub/shower
o Shine glass door
o Scrub and sanitize toilet, inside and out, including base and behind, and water hose
o Clean floor around toilet by hand
o Wash doors and door casings
o Clean switch plates and outlet covers
o Clean towel racks
o Wipe down toilet paper dispenser and fold toilet paper
o Wipe down both sides and underneath blinds and shutters with damp cloth
o Wipe down windowsills, window tracks, and inside of windows
o Wash baseboards
o Vacuum and mop floors
Laundry Room Checklist
o Dust top to bottom
o Cobweb behind doors and check corners
o Wipe down counters
o Dust shelves
o Clean and disinfect sink, wipe dry
o Wash cabinets, inside and out, and cabinet doors
o Wipe dust from tops of cabinet door hinges
o Wipe out drawers

o Wipe down washer and dryer; lift washer lid and clean under; dust in between washer and dryer

o Vacuum and mop floor
Stairs/Staircase
o Wipe down handrails and ballasts/spindles
o Vacuum along baseboards with edging attachment
o Check for cobwebs and remove
o Wash baseboards
o Clean switch plates and outlet covers
o Wipe down both sides and underneath blinds and shutters with damp cloth
o Wipe down windowsills, window tracks
o Spot clean walls
o Wipe down or vacuum stairs
Before You Leave
o Do a complete walkthrough of the house to make sure nothing was missed
o Be sure you have all your cleaning supplies
o Turn off all lights that should be turned off
o Turn off heat/air if you turned it on
o Close and lock all windows and doors
o Set alarm, if required
